FDRAPPL is comparable to ABARS within DFSMShsm except that FDRAPPL is significantly faster and offers more flexible selection criteria.

We use FDRAPPL to backup all of the User Catalogs and other critical Datasets three times a day
Application Backup

FDRAPPL is designed to backup all datasets that realte to a given application, from whatever disk volume they reside on.

Simple control cards to select critical files:

SELECT CATDSN=PAYROLL.**

FDRAPPL maintains a database which records all of the backup information, allowing for easy restores of the current or older backups.
